Beta Hydroxy Peels
Dermatology has used Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) for many years, but using it as a peeling agent is a new approach. Beta Hydroxy Peels use salicylic acid, a light peeling agent that produces a slightly more vigorous peel than Alpha Hydroxy Acids, yet it is safe to use even with patients who have darker skin tones. These peels are particularly successful in treating brown spots, melasma (pregnancy mask) and other pigmentation problems on the face. One of the benefits of BHA is it causes only mild flaking and peeling for just a week and like Alpha Hydroxy Acid, does not require any down time. We find Beta Peels to produce fresher, healthier-looking skin and are especially effective for patients who are battling pigment irregularities, acne and moderate sun damage.
