Introducing LaViv™ (azficel-T)
A new treatment for wrinkles that has been heralded by the New York Times is now available at Silverberg Surgical. Developed by Fibrocell Sciences, the new process called La Viv uses a patient’s own collagen-producing cells that are grown and injected into the problem area. La Viv has recently received FDA approval and Fibrocell Sciences is in the final stages of making this new treatment available.
We are most excited to offer this treatment to patients of Silverberg Surgical because of Dr. Nancy Silverberg’s long involvement with the evolution and testing of this technique. This technique was first tested under the name Isolagen and used in Europe and the U.S where its efficacy and safety were well established. Dr. Nancy was an integral part of the team of investigators and was involved in the four clinical trials that culminated in the FDA approving this treatment.
About LAVIV
La Viv is a unique cellular therapy that leverages fibroblasts, which are collagen-producing cells, in each of us. The first step of the process is to take a tiny sample of tissue from behind the ear, and then Fibrocell Sciences grows the cells in an advanced, certified safe lab. The process is completely sterile. After six to eight weeks, the cells are returned to the doctor’s office and injected into the patient by the surgeon.
Because La Viv uses the patient’s own cells rather than a foreign body, it is a more natural treatment than other options available for treating wrinkles. With clinical trial data that is almost a decade in the making, La Viv can demonstrate that patients will experience significant longevity in their results. In fact, some of the patients who participated in the clinical trials 10 years ago are still experiencing positive results. Fibrocell Sciences is also able to store unused cells for future treatments.
