‘Brotox’ Changes the Face of BOTOX® Cosmetic
“Brotox,” the newly coined term for BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments performed for men, has shown a dramatic increase in popularity in recent years. According to an article in HealthDay, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported a 258 percent increase in BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures for men between the years of 2000 and 2010. Additionally, HealthDay cites that a total of 336,834 men received BOTOX® injections in 2010, making it the number one male choice for cosmetic procedures. It appears that BOTOX® Cosmetic, or “Brotox,” has made a successful transition across the gender gap, as the numbers speak for themselves. The popularity surge among males appears to stem from more men wishing to enhance their facial appearance, particularly in the area of the brows. Doctors quoted in the article say that BOTOX® Cosmetic for men is commonly used to relax the brow muscles and smooth out furrows, reducing an “angry” appearance.
