Skin tags are small growths that typically manifest on the neck, armpits, skin folds, and other body areas. They are usually skin-colored and may have a narrow stalk. Skin tags often affect people who are overweight or suffer from diabetes. Although typically benign and painless, some skin tags may be a sign of something more serious, and should at least be examined to ensure they are not cancerous or pre-cancerous. Skin tags can be surgically removed if they are found to be dangerous or if you are experiencing discomfort or aesthetic displeasure.
